The influence of Western food, as it is served in Japan, on Akutsu's work is widely evident in his pieces, but perhaps nowhere more so than this two-handled "soup bowl." You can just imagine an onion soup in here, toasted bubbly with cheese... or a nice hearty lentil soup, or maybe Nikujaga.
